Anecdoctoring: Automated Red-Teaming Across Language and Place

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

Disinformation is among the top risks of generative artificial intelligence (AI) misuse. Global adoption of generative AI necessitates red-teaming evaluations (i.e., systematic adversarial probing) that are robust across diverse languages and cultures, but red-teaming datasets are commonly US- and English-centric. To address this gap, we propose "anecdoctoring", a novel red-teaming approach that automatically generates adversarial prompts across languages and cultures. We collect misinformation claims from fact-checking websites in three languages (English, Spanish, and Hindi) and two geographies (US and India). We then cluster individual claims into broader narratives and characterize the resulting clusters with knowledge graphs, with which we augment an attacker LLM. Our method produces higher attack success rates and offers interpretability benefits relative to few-shot prompting. Results underscore the need for disinformation mitigations that scale globally and are grounded in real-world adversarial misuse.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict started on 7 October 2023, have resulted thus far to over 48,000 people killed including more than 17,000 children with a majority from Gaza, more than 30,000 people injured, over 10,000 missing, and over 1 million people displaced, fleeing conflict zones. The infrastructure damage includes the 87\% of housing units, 80\% of public buildings and 60\% of cropland 17 out of 36 hospitals, 68\% of road networks and 87\% of school buildings damaged. This conflict has as well launched an online discussion across various social media platforms. Telegram was no exception due to its encrypted communication and highly involved audience. The current study will cover an analysis of the related discussion in relation to different participants of the conflict and sentiment represented in those discussion. To this end, we prepared a dataset of 125K messages shared on channels in Telegram spanning from 23 October 2025 until today. Additionally, we apply the same analysis in two publicly available datasets from Twitter containing 2001 tweets and from Reddit containing 2M opinions. We apply a volume analysis across the three datasets, entity extraction and then proceed to BERT topic analysis in order to extract common themes or topics. Next, we apply sentiment analysis to analyze the emotional tone of the discussions. Our findings hint at polarized narratives as the hallmark of how political factions and outsiders mold public opinion. We also analyze the sentiment-topic prevalence relationship, detailing the trends that may show manipulation and attempts of propaganda by the involved parties. This will give a better understanding of the online discourse on the Israel-Palestine conflict and contribute to the knowledge on the dynamics of social media communication during geopolitical crises.

FOX News

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, gave his first speech since receiving the Republican Party's nomination for vice president on Wednesday, and it could offer a look into his future role on the presidential campaign trail. The "Hillbilly Elegy" author mentioned his home state of Ohio 12 times during his remarks. We gotta win Michigan too here," Vance, an Ohio State University alumnus, said to the crowd. The second most-mentioned states were Michigan and Pennsylvania, with both being talked about by Vance six times. Sen. JD Vance promised not to forget where he came from, referring to the Rust Belt, when speaking at the RNC. Kentucky was also a significant state for Vance, as he spent a portion of his childhood there with his grandmother, "Mamaw." The state, which differs from the others as it traditionally votes red, was also mentioned by the Republican four times. Vance also referenced three times the pivotal Midwestern battleground state of Wisconsin, where the Republican National Convention is taking place. His heavy emphasis on these Rust Belt states comes as former President Trump has already signaled his intent to use Vance to his advantage in Midwestern swing states. "[Trump] just said, 'Look, I think I've got to go save this country.

New safety rules set training standards for train dispatchers and signal repairmen

FOX News

Fox News Flash top headlines are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com. New federal certification rules finalized Monday for train dispatchers and signal repairmen will set minimum standards to counteract the investor pressure on railroads to continually cut costs while making sure those employees have the skills they need to operate all the high-tech systems on today's trains. The new Federal Railroad Administration rules are the latest steps in the agency's broad efforts to improve rail safety since the disastrous East Palestine derailment in Ohio last year although these rules were in the works years before that train crash. FRA Administrator Amit Bose said in an interview with The Associated Press that both these crafts of workers are responsible for some of the advanced technology railroads rely on like the assortment of trackside detectors that help spot mechanical problems before they can cause derailments, so it made sense to set certification standards for them.
